ABOUT THE WORK
The face held in stillness carries ancestral memory—memory inscribed upon the body rather than written elsewhere. The figure in motion is Africa living now, where joy is carried forward as inheritance rather than relic. The woman in quiet profile stands on the far shore of that journey: the Caribbean, composed and unhurried, shaped by all that was carried across the water and all that was transformed beyond it.
The diaspora is not a rupture. It is a root carried into new soil, where it grows toward its own light.
This work is nearing completion. While the composition and palette have been resolved, the final details are still in progress.
